Vaitheeswaran Koil is a Hindu temple situated in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu, dedicated to the god of healing, Lord Shiva, who is considered the third person of the Hindu Trinity of Brahma Vishnu Mahesh. Despite being associated with destruction, Lord Shiva is revered here as the master of healing. The Vaitheeswaran temple in Sri Lanka is also dedicated to the same deity, but the temple in Tamil Nadu is particularly popular during the Navagraha festival. The shrine at Vaitheeswaran Koil is believed to be associated with the planet Mars.
